Background

After completing his arts (politics) and law degrees at Macquarie University, Rob travelled to New York where he worked at Mudge Rose, a large Wall Street law firm, on one of its commercial litigation teams. While in New York Rob passed the New York bar exam and was admitted as an attorney in 1994.

From New York Rob went to Hong Kong where he worked in a medium-sized practice, Pam Baker & Company. In Hong Kong he focussed primarily on public law litigation while also being involved in some family, civil and criminal law matters. He completed the foreign lawyers’ exam and was admitted as a solicitor in 1999. Rob completed a master of laws degree from HKU while there.

After returning to Australia in 2002 Rob took a hiatus from the law to pursue farming, property and other business interests. His love of the law lured him back to the profession in 2011. As the principal director of Newcastle Legal he liaises regularly with the other lawyers and colleagues in the team on strategies in the cases they are handling.
